STROUD & DISTRICT
As of the 1st April 2019 the club have taken over the fishing rights at Stoutshill Lake in Uley. It is a 38 peg venue with platforms on every peg. Maintainence & repair work has been going on throughout the last 12 months in order to bring the lake up to tip top condition. Thanks to club member Kevin Graham, who looks after the lake on a permanent basis, it is now probably one of the best mixed fishery lakes in the area. The introduction of 7000 carp of varying sizes has certainly created a venue well worth visiting.
Please read your club card rules before going to the lake. As it is in the grounds of a privately owned house. The club will not make any allowances for any indescrections by persons fishing the lake. Any member breaking the rules will face an instant & life long ban from the club.
The club now own the fishing rights to a 50+ peg stretch of the Gloucester Canal at Southfield Farm, Hardwicke. This stretch is on the "greenbank" side of the canal so no hinderence from towpath users. Access is from Church Lane, Hardwicke then turn left at Hardwicke Church. This is one of the only stretches of this canal where it is possible to drive to your peg to fish. Work has been carried out to clear all the pegs. A disabled platform has been installed and must be left available at all times for disabled members.
The Club has also fully restored a ½ mile stretch of The Thames/Severn Canal at Thrupp in the Chalford valley. The stretch has some 30+ permanant pegs making it ideal for both leisure & match anglers.
The SDAC is actively involved in restoring the Thames/Severn Canal for the benefit of ALL and is very pleased that the project is progressing so well. The stretch at Dr Newtons Way at the by-pass is showing some superb sized roach & perch along with the resident jack pike and will be a great asset to the club when finished.
The Stroud & District AC still has the lease for the fishing rights on Stratford Park Lake which holds a good head of Roach, Bream, skimmers and Perch. There is only a limited amount of pegs on the lake so fishing is a matter of "first come - first served".
Members may only fish from the platforms installed on the left hand bank. Any person found fishing from any other place on the lake will be asked to leave & their membership may be cancelled
